After completing the new redwood front deck just a couple of days before the first winter freeze came a good coat of Thompson’s Waterseal was applied to the bare wood. I never tried this before but many said it was really good stuff and i did see the comericals on TV. Sure enough when it rained a couple of days after the coating the water beaded up just like everyone said it would. That night it got really cold. The next morning I headed out the door for work and soon found that all those beads of water that I was so proud of the night before had turned to little domes of ice and I soon found myself sitting on them with my feet over my head. Yup Thompson’s works well but be aware of ice!

I’ve always wondered if that sealer was good to use. Thanks for the info. Hope you didn’t hurt yourself with that fall.
