Topic tags/keywords: question door frame mezuzah

In a recently renovated house (the door frame was replaced… I think), I’ve a swinging door. I want to flush mount a box (about 1-1/2×3, 3/8 – 1” deep, with a plexiglass cover flush with the frame of the door) within it. The box will be mounted about 2/3 of the way up the door frame.

If the door frame is some sort of fascia on a hollow frame, I’m good. If the door frame is 2x, I’m good. If something else happens…. I might not be so good. I’m relatively sure that there will be some space in there to do this, but… my wife would redistribute various portions of my anatomy if I made the hole, and am wrong.

Any opinions?

Thanks

I have read your topic several times but I am having trouble figuring out what you want to do with what. Put a small box in the swinging door or the door frame? ...but then I couldn’t figure out the menu for lunch either.

Sorry… I want to inset a small (probably zebrawood) open box into the door frame, such that the lid of the box ( a piece of plexiglass) is flush with the door frame (so that the door can swing through.
