We will be replacing a set of wood framed glass interior doors in a 120” wide opening. The opening had two sets of 30” interior glass doors. The outboard doors tied together with four hinges to the jambs and the inboard doors also have four hinges, making up a total of four doors. So either side of the door jamb had a set of two doors that folded open to 120” of door opening when the doors are opened completely. On thinking about the installation of replacement glass doors, I would like some ideas on things we might consider with this installation. Having two doors in the closed position hanging from even four hinges is a lot of leverage. Should we use longer screws to secure the hinges into the jamb? Or will four hinges with standard brass crews have enough holding power to handle the weight of two doors? Might mention that the doors are from an entry way into a dining room at frat house. So things seem to break with greater frequency than we would see normally. Would appreciate any ideas on this project of ours. Dalec |
