Topic tags/keywords: water filter california new construction

We are getting to the final stages of finishing off our new house. We need to come up with a water filtation system. I am not sure if we should go with a whole house system, or just filter the drinking water. What do I need to look for? We have the Premier RO system at our old house with a tank (replaced the 3 gallon by a 10 gallon already), and this does not work well with a large family.

Because of the lime in the water in central Texas, I went with a whole house system. It’s just a help, not a complete answer to the stuff in the water. The only way to get it all out is reverse osmosis filters, and you can’t use them for whole house, or anything else that you where you want any flow. I have the canister filters. I think they’re the ge brand. I looked at the systems and no matter how big they are, you still have to change the filter every 3 months. I guess the more water you use, the larger the filter you need to last 3 months. Let us know what you come up with, I’m still looking for better ideas, just haven’t done much research.

Thanks tenontim, I gues the water in Texas is not as good as in So California.

This morning I did find this website, http://www.waterfilteradvisor.com, where they work you through the steps of looking at your water first, what you want to take out and what to leave in the water. if you want to just filter the drinking water or also shower and cooking. Next they cover the different filtration options. Cost is an other factor.

Well I gat some more reading to do.

Thanks for the link. Lots of info on that one. I’ll be studying some more myself to find a better filter system.
