Topic tags/keywords: rough driveway repair drag fix dirt driveway

I live in central Maine, I have a beautiful place the only downfall is the driveway is dirt. It’s packed down real hard and it’s in the shape of a horseshoe. Now there are some pot holes and bumps and general roughness when going around the loop. I actually hate the way it makes my truck bounce. I feel as though i’m in the woods four-wheeling. It really is that bad.

Maybe some folks on here have some remedies to smooth it out. Someone told mt to drag a skid behind my fourwheeler with a lot of weight. I don’t know about that, as I said its packed pretty tightly. What do they use on dirt roads? is that something that is available to the public? is there a machine I can rent?

thanx in advance

I grew up on a dirt road and the town brought a big ol’ grater through twice a year. My parents live on a shared dirt driveway now, and I think their neighbor has a blade on a three point hitch on his tractor or something similar that can really move some dirt.

None of those really helps you, though.
