Topic tags/keywords: garage window enlarge vinyl

Hi All!

I’m looking to enlarge one of my windows in my garage/shop and was wondering if it’s possible for me to reuse the vinyl siding that will be removed for any patching that may need to occur? The current window is a freaky odd size – like 12×18 and I’d like to replace it with a larger standard size so I can set a fan of some kind in to keep air circulating.not so worried about the interior finishing since there’s just beadboard panel up over a sheet of 1/2 drywall – no insulation or anything. So anything I do there would be an improvement. Thanks for the input!

Sure! I’d cut out for the window then remove the siding. If you are careful you can usually pull the nails. If not just cut the heads and pull the siding off the shanks.

Excellent! That should technically be the only thing I have to do on the ‘exterior’ – I think. besides maybe replace the flashing which wouldn’t be bad.

You will have a bunch on the inside with changing the studs and framing in the new window.
