Our daughter is due tomorrow and she needed a changing table. We found this brown oak changing table on Craigslist. Overall the dresser was OK-ed, but the oak color did not go with the rest of the decor. The other problem was the big lid folding out to the front. With the lid folded out you can not get in the top drawer. The last complain was the finger pull. It had to have pulls on it.
So “opa” had to go to work and get it all fixed before “Due Date”.
1. The finished result, with the new handles.
2. During the final painting. Last coat was shellac, this helps to protect the latex paint and normally that latex will stay sticky for a long time.
3. I had to be sure the mattress would fit. With the new top front.
4. Primed with new front.
5. Start priming.
6. The original cabinet.
Thanks for looking. And thanks for your comments.

Nice transformation. My Grand daughter is almost two now, and I can tell you, this is going to get a lot of use. I built the bed for my Grand daughter, but didn’t have time to do the changing table, so they bought one at a yard sale. Thanks for the post.

Hey, major congratulations on your expanding family! That is awesome. Way to save the bucks. I like what you did with it. Thanks for giving the pointer about the final finish. I will remember it.

Oh man, congratulations. Isn’t it true that parents raise the kids and Grandpa spoils them rotten?

Congrats Grandpa!
Fantastic work on updating the changing table. Shortening the flip-out was a smart idea.
Enjoy spoiling the little one!!!

Nice work on refurbishing the changing table. You’ll enjoy being a grandpa as much as the baby will enjoy the table. The room looks great. Congratulations!

Mark, I am totally with you. But I will still take on a stinky diper of need be.
Gary, thanks for the complement. I thought it came out nice. And spoiled she will be!
Hi Billy, it will be a lot of fun.

Oh the diaper days….... As long as you didn’t have to change the first ones. I don’t miss em at all. I’m going to request that my kids hold off a while longer. ;)
