Half Bath Update

Project by EthanV posted 284 days ago 1554 views 1 time favorited 10 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This half bath is the only bathroom on the first floor. It was very plain and had that nasty green marble laminate that was popular in the ‘90s. My wife wanted to replace the sink top and the vanity but the dimensions were difficult to find in stores. It would require custom work so I decided to do it myself. I replaced the sink top with backered MDF and tiled over it. I had never done tile before so I watched some tutorials on Youtube. We also decided to have a tile accent wall. We replaced the hardware, faucet and light fixture and added the round mirror in place of the large rectangular one. After that we put on a fresh coat of paint and called it a day!

The pictures show start to finish progression.

Very nice. You did a great job remodeling the bathroom. I especially like the tile-work. BTW – that photo of you under the sink is my nightmare. Every bad dream has me under the sink and trying to stop that last drop.

I can’t tell if you’re celebrating in that last photo, but you sure have a big smile on your face. Congratulations!

Thanks Billy! Actually I was just being goofy in the last picture.

Well done Ethan! I agree with Billy there. The tile work is outstanding.

I really like the vanity doors. Any way to get a shot with a little more light. Our tiny bathroom is an around the corner project.

Great job Ethan! Tiling the wall really made the difference. A great accent.

Everything is perfection. I am adored by the lamps above the mirror.
You gave it a completely different look and feel. Great work!

A really neat concept. I especially like the tile mosaic wall as it greatly complements your brown tile sink top. Very nice neutral earthy tones for the entire sink outlook that match your existing storage cabinet, and the lighting is like icing on the cake. The round mirror is also a clever idea which is different from the common rectangular ones we see at every house.
