Well I haven’t hung the doors yet because the paint is still drying but the kiddo wants to move in. I figured I better snap some pictures before he decorates.
This is his desk we bought for 80 a few months back. We put another 50 into it.
This and that. Inexpensive laminate. Hand made door trim.

Curtains and bedcovers made by the old man. Those old upholstery skills come in handy.

Old shelf desperately needs some work. He hid it in the corner. Pretty smart if you ask me.

And of course, some final shots of the artwork we tried hard to preserve. Lot’s of painting around the edges.

During this adventure we painted a boatload of trim. Far more than we needed for his room. It will help me finish that hall. (That’s right. Not done yet. ;) )

Mark – your plinths turned out nice. Good job. I think the simplicity of the trim is a good match for your baseboards (keeping with the shadow lines). Things are pulling together for you – can’t wait for the finished product. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Billy!
You will notice the plinths are cut as suggested. After having a whole bunch of reinforcement to your point, I couldn’t NOT do it that way. But even “I” can see the light once in a while. I’m convinced it was the best way, both with all the kind input and just seeing them after the fact. You saved me a mistake that would have cost me more rework than I was willing to do. Thank you a million times!
My son has already begun his decorating. I like how he is deciding what goes back into his room and where. I’m just not fond of how he is just hanging his medals on nails. I think I need to get him into builiding a display case. If he wants me to build one for him, he can add it to the end of the list. I should have it ready for his graduation. (College ;)

Thanks Nick,
I thought you might understand my agony at trying to get the paint just so. Plus – we both seem to fans of a little 3d influence. I know my boy loves it. I appreciate the compliments on the trim! At first it was a labor of love, then it just became labor.
