Before he got married, my father bought a whole set of bedroom furniture in maple!
60 years later and 7 kids who used said furniture, it is going back in his room!
It has been painted, and painted …
I forgot to take before pictures, but these 2 book cases (future project) give you and idea of what they looked like a week ago:
!
and this is the first dresser:
and the second
I used the Circa product, with medium steel wool for the heavy removal and then works my way down to 000
and wiped them with a rag and a bit of the stripping product.
I started using the rag as last step a few years ago and I find that it picks up a lot of the stain that might still be in the wood and seems to even it out.
For varnish I used the Circa Wood Paste Varnish.

Very nice. Its nice to see the wood again. I strip a lot of furniture so I know how much work you put in to refinishing them and you did a very nice job.

Thanks you all for the nice words! Joe,
You mention that you do a lot of furniture stripping. Do you sand it down or use chemicals?

Wow, very nice.
The last time I did a refinish, I brought the dresser away for the stripping part.
