New Kitchen floors

Renovating my 1939 home. We are the second owners. My wife is driving me mad and we no longer talk but the renovations are proceeding well. She is the absolute worst client I have ever had.

I incorportaed two different species of maple, each a different colour, to outline the room. Inset into the centre of each area is a marble centrepiece. One area is set with 12” tile set on the diagonal, and the other is 18” tile also set on the diagonal.

All the floors in the house will be done in the same manner.

Well, the floors look very nice.

Tile work is not my best, but seeing these make me want to do some in my house somewhere.

Job well done.

I have to say that the mist useful tool in setting down the floor was my 3 1/2 hp router set in its table. I had to change direction several times and used the router to cut new mortised and make tenons. The tile work was easy.

Nice job, to say the least. Awesome combination of materials.

Great floor, Chuck! Inspiring idea and terrific execution. Very nice result. Do you eat off it?
