Pergola and Gazebo Back Yard Deck Retreat 1

Project by printman posted 02-14-2011 04:40 AM 4157 views 1 time favorited 9 comments Add to Favorites Watch

A friend wanted to freshen up her back yard with a new pool and needed to revamp the deck to give an open feeling. The old deck towered above the 6 foot privacy fence blocking the view form the restaurant parking lot behind the property as you can see from the before pic. This is the design I came up with to open up an already small back yard space and give a new look to the back yard. Let me know what you think… : )

I like it .. to me, it feels like a fancy tree house (that’s a compliment) – with two different areas connected by a walkway bridge. .. it is like its own little world.

Nice work and design ! How did you drill the holes for the spindles on the stair railings since they are on a angle .

Thanks for the encouragement John. I used my angle finder to get the exact angle and set my portable drillpress table to the correct angle. Then marked both rails together to get hole placement. The owners liked the rails too when it was all finished. I kept some of the elements from them so they could be surprised when they came home…
