Pergola rebuild

Project by rrdesigns posted 01-01-2011 06:09 PM 2254 views 0 times favorited 14 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This was a rebuild for a rotted pergola. We used the same design with a few improvements. The original design had the posts buried in the soil, which of course rotted them out. We filled the post holes with concrete, added Simpson post bases and installed the new posts above ground with a decorative cover to hide the bases.

That came out looking real nice, great job and smart move to get the post above ground.

It’s simply amazing to me that folks don’t embed posts in concrete! I’ve got fence posts that are 25 years old and still almost as strong as new. Only one has rotted away and why, I don’t know. I took the time to install in concrete. Find Flea Markets Near Me
