Lattice Entry Gate

I love lattice. It provides a great growing area for climbing vegetation, and much artistic base. This is a gate I built to enter our upper lot. It is built to resemble the surrounding lattice, but be sturdy enough to be a gate. I also wanted to have an arch to knock down all the linear look of the surrounding items. As you can see by the picture, the gate’s right 2/3 open as a normal gate. The left third as a long steel pin that locks into the neighboring post to open the entire width up for large items.

You might also notice we installed a keyed entry (same as house key) for protection against entry.

Very nice, thanks for sharing.
What wood did you use, and what paint. All the things I make for the back yard seem to fall appart in a couple of years and the paint peels off.
Be good, Pabull.

The gate is made of redwood, and painted with Kilz primer and Behr ultra white house paint. The surround is made of hollow plywood I made. The vertical posts have a short post inside to secure them to the ground. The upper spray is made with regular copper plumbing .

This entry gate looks just fantastic! I would not mind getting one of these gates for my essaysontime event entry. This looks like it would attract a lot people to an event and that is exactly what I need right now.
