Billiard Room Cue Rack

Project by 2ol2rac posted 12-19-2009 08:11 PM 8139 views 3 times favorited 9 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I finished a room in the basement for a pool table and needed something to store the cue sticks, billiard balls, racks, etc. I decided to set it into the wall because in a billiard room every inch counts and I did not want the rack to interfere with play. I used oak bead board for the back and oak for the trim, etc. I stained it to match the the pool table, then 3 coats of wipe on poly. It functions well, I was pleased with how it turned out.

Inserting in the wall is a fantastic approach and I am surprised we do not see this more often. Book cases, cupboards can be built in between the studs. Fantastic finish on your cue rack too!

This rack will probably catch more attention than the table itself, particularly when we can see the triangles neatly displayed in synchrony with their counterparts. The wooden wall finish also gives it a particularly classy touch. Well done!

A classy addition to an otherwise simple interior. An organized person would value the practicality of the cupboard more so than its aesthetic qualities, certainly accessible and not affecting playing room in any unnecessary way. Functionality aside, it is a certain value add that it is DIY.
