Flooring was shipped from Vermont and consisted of tongue and groove Hickory of various widths (3/4 inch thickness). We had it professionally installed and finished with an oil finish.

Cabinetry came from Home Depot – we chose Hickory, natural finish Kraftmaid. We designed a custom island separating the kitchen from the living room which had a raised portion on one end for bar seating.

To bring light into the room and accommodate the spaciousness of the 12 foot ceilings, we added transoms above the French doors (not shown in the photos) and above the window over the kitchen sink and cabinets, as well as over the 8 foot wide window in the living room. We chose Max-E windows by Millguard.

Our doors are solid fir, four paneled doors which we sanded and finished ourselves.

We had all the windows wrapped and chose 6 inch baseboards.

The hearth was constructed of man-made River Rock. We purchased a custom hewn mantle from a gentleman in Bend, Oregon who crafted it from a Juniper tree.

Nice job on the whole process. I like the “light” feeling of the house with the natural hickory finish on everything.
The rock fireplace looks great too. You’ve got yourself a real nice house there.
