Fireplace Mantel

After finishing up my last project, a custom staircase and handrail, the customer asked me back to design and build a fireplace mantel for them.

It is built from white oak and stained with general finishes dye stain merlo

I’ve actually heard that marble is getting very trendy – it’s a pretty evergreen kind of material for people to use in their homes. But it’s interesting to see it incorporated in the mantel place in something other than the counter top. Makes me feel like I should go about embellishing some of my storage cabinets now… hmmm…

White oak is perfect for fireplaces. I have used it in one of my projects before but it was for a book storage cabinet. I finished if off with a dye stain too but it was of a lighter hue so it looked softer.

I love the design but the readers would really benefit from a wide range of designs and how to do them as well as maintenance like good furniture cleaning.
