I guess that I might be busy for the rest of my life. I’ve just had my offer accepted on this plantation piece of property.
It has 57 Acres and a 1790 home with some newer additions and modifications.
if you look for this property on Google Earth you take their starting point and go up Tyler road until you see a fair sized lake (10 Acres) on the left. The property starts 20 ’ from the lake and goes north through the area where most of the trees are gone.
It has 2 cemeteries on the property one for the family that lived there and a slave cemetery. The family cemetery has granite stones and 1 original Confederate tombstone. The last date that I can remember was 1977 and I think it was a 1 yr old child. I’ve been told that some family member of someone in the slave cemetery lives in the area and sometime come to visit.
The woods have been raped in the last 2 years. The current owner sold all of the marketable timber off the land and from Google Earth it looks like there is a lot of wood laying on the ground. So I probably have firewood for 20 years.
I might put in an outdoor wood burning furnace to eliminate all my fuel cost. I could assume a couple hundred cords of wood laying on the ground. There are 4-5 large pecan trees around the home like 2’-3’ in diam.
Well The property wasn’t what it was portrayed as. The property had a restriction that it couldn’t be subdivided.
So we canceled the contract.
I’ve since bought two different properties.
One with 20 Acrea and after 2 years I’m selling it to my daughter and her husband.
So I now have a contract on another piece in Appomattox VA. 5 Acres and a 2200 Sq Ft house. I close on it by the end of the month or March 2017.
