We have two cats, and though they eat and sleep upstairs, their litter boxes are in our unfinished basement. We have just been leaving the door leading from the kitchen to the basement ajar, but on a few occasions, people have closed the door, meaning the cats had to hold it. No more.

I bought a cheap hollow core door slab on sale, cut an 8” x 10” door in the bottom, and installed blocking to fill the void in the hollow core and added some oak trim. The original door went to the storage room in case we ever put the house on the market.

I like the idea. Might have to toss that into the MustDo list for my 3 cats. Any luck on a cat litter box cabinet?

Nope … SWMBO hasn’t brought that up … yet!
