This is a 20’x20’ platform style composite deck I built in the summerof 08’. The homeowner chose the redwood color from Veranda. The picture only shows a piece of it including the 4’x7’ platform leading up to the pool. The deck is only about 6” off the ground so the homeowner and I agreed to go without the handrail. In the end, the deck turned out rather nice.

Nice clean lines. I like the border strip around all the edges, much nicer detail than board ends. Good job. BTKS

Thanks for the comment BTKS, I build all my decks with a picture frame around them. Just add a double joist on the ends where the border runs parallel with the joists. That way, half of the double will catch the decking and the other half will catch the board around the edge.

Great job Jon. I agree, the picture frame looks great and really makes the deck. Any preference on a composite type? I’m looking to redo a deck but having a hard time deciding on the composite (Trex, Timber Tech, Fiberon…)

Nice deck. I’ve used Veranda before, I like it too.
