Wallpaper liner over paneling

Project by thebaldguy posted 318 days ago 2766 views 0 times favorited 4 comments Add to Favorites Watch

We bought a new house about a year ago and it of course needed major updating. In the living room there was some old paneling on the walls. We put a wall paper liner on over the paneling and then textured the liner and now it looks as if we sheetrocked and textured the living room. It turned out great. We didn’t have to buy sheet rock or worry about door jambs and baseboards not meeting up correctly.

I haven’t heard of wall paper liner. Could it be put over old wallpaper and then painted if the old wall paper in on securely. I have a room with the old paper on way TOO securely and the person did not put sizing on before the hung the paper. Where do you get the wall paper liner?

Brilliant!

FYI: This was the first result I saw under Google Shopping:

Looks like whoever purchased it there also used it to cover paneling…

Yes you can put it over wall paper but make sure it is very secure and not coming off in spots. I got the liner at Sherwin Williams although they had to special order it.
