I had an electrician stop by today because I have the ceiling open and the electric panel is in this room. Also, I have wires running through the ceiling joists that are in the way of installing the projector screen by just a few inches… so close!
Now I’m going to get a few things done that I’ve wanted to have done.
1) Sub-Panel in the garage. This house was built in 1980 and has one outlet in the garage. That’s it. It’s a two car garage I might add. The electrician said that was code for that year, but it certainly does not help when setting up a workshop.
2) Dedicated circuit to the office. All three bedrooms in the house are on the same circuit and I am always worried about too much getting plugged into the wall and blowing the fuse while my computer is up. (Yes it’s protected with UPS, but judging by their performance at my work, I really don’t want to test them out). So now a 20amp service will go direct to the office (which sits above the garage so they can pull the wire at the same time as the new sub-panel!)

another angle

Progress feels so good. They’ll be here next week to do the work.

The electricians are here right now. Very exciting. They have already shifted the wires over and are working on the sub panel now.
@MRTRIM – Exactly. I fret over the planning because I just know I won’t think of everything ahead of time. I’ve been trying to think of how I could work some 2” pipe in so I would have access for fishing more wires if I wanted.
I’m excited about the sub-panel though. Once the rest of the garage is cleared out I get to run wires for all the tools that will be filling it up…. well… hopefully filling it up.
