no previous part Part 1 of 92 Winnebago Brave series no next part

2 weeks ago I inherited a 92 Winnebago Brave. “Mike” lived in an RV park that my step-dad manages for over 2 years. My 2 boy’s loved to go to Mike’s RV and listen to stories of his travels around the world. He even went on a pilgramage to Isreal. Mike was also a sergant in the Army (wich he retired from), so he had all kinds of storie for my boy’s. A month ago we were all heart broke to learn that Mike had passsed away, all alone in his RV. Unknow to me, Mike had spoke highly of my boy’s and I. So his 2 daughters and his brother decided they didnt want to mess w/ Mike’s Rv and his lil 95 dodge neon, so I inherited both. It has taken us 2 weeks to clean the inside of the Rv. I think Mike had a 3 bedroom house inside the 31 foot Rv. lol. We have set off 2 bug bombs and put out numerous mouse traps, but i dont think it did much good. We are still infested w/ both bugs and rodents. We also found a section of the wall that has been leaking for some time, unfortunately it seems to be behind the shower area. :( Alot of people are telling me that I need to just gut the RV and remodel everything. The carpet is ruined so it has to come up. One of the storage area’s under the seat at the table was full of clothes which got wet and molded. So the seat has to be removed. The mice have chewed tunnels through every cushion in the RV, including the driver and passenger seat. So the couch and all the chairs are going to need replaced. The pro’s about all this is that the floors are solid and the motor is strong. It runs and drives well, (we put in a new battery and the RV fired right up after sitting for 2.5 years!)

I have some experiance w/ remodeling a bathroom, painting and putting up drywall and such. But im afraid this is over my head. I would love to do all the repairs and eventually have a nice RV to go on vacation in. Do any of you have experience w/ RV’s? LOL Is it better to use carpet or tile?

I will post pics in the next day or two

Great floorplans. Incredible motor home. The roof is solid. Have seen no indication of leakage. The headliner glue has failed with some bubbling. The walls are solid inside and out. The floor feels strong as well. The motor and transmission are strong. Front exhaust leak present. The dinette was removed for a mobile office. It could be replaced if so desired. The Onan starts right up. We have much newer units that are not this nice. However, please know that you are purchasing a 17 year old vehicle that will require maintenace and repair as time goes on. The RV was driven from Indianapolis to Columbus without any issues. We are offering this good old Winni on Ebay at NO RESERVE! The final high bidder will own it. Please have all personal loans available prior to bidding. The RV must be paid for 3days from auction close without exception. Good luck! Have a GREAT day!

Seems to me that the primary concern with the motor home would be weight, which would make me trepidatious about tile. I’m not much of a carpet fan, but might be a reason to use vinyl or linoleum flooring.

I don’t know anything in particular about RVs. There was a woodworker named Tom Plamann who did some amazing curved cabinetry for the insides of high end corporate jets, but his web site has been replaced with “Peace … and may God be with you”, so I think he’s passed on, alas, and the pictures have disappeared. From what I remember, though, I think he got a lot of use out of thin (1/4” or so) plywood bent to curves for more strength.
