I used 2 X 6’s for the railing.

Nice work on the half lap joint. It looks like it will provide more strength for the railings.

Yes, it looks like they will indeed. If they stay nice and flat, that is what you want. This has been a great project. Nice to have it done before winter sets in. Now you just have to keep the snow from piling up on it.
