« Part 3: Priming and header trim done Part 4 of Remodeling a family cottage series Part 5: Window dressing »

Well, it’s been awhile. I got all the oak planed and jointed and made all the window sills and casings and got them installed. I also installed the oak facing on the underside of the header from the load bearing wall I tore down a ways back.

I installed some LED light strips on both sides of the header. They have an RF controller so that I can change colors, flash, strobe, blend, dim, etc. The power supply sits in a cavity on the wall where all the internet stuff resides. this will be enclosed by a cover and the 60” LED TV (reward for finishing this) will be in front of the whole thing.

The lights are mounted above the header in a pocket behind the top molding.

A close up of the header molding. It’s just one ogee on top of another.

.
The 60 watt power supply (top with holes in it), the controller (in my hand) and the receiver (small white box about the size of a stick of gum on the right) The rest is modem, router, etc.

It looks very good Craftsman. I just finished bathtub surround (actually the tear out work) new insulation, and cover up prior to waterproof membrane, got the new window installed yesterday and over did working in 100+ degree weather and I am paying for it today. I wanted to get it finished before my 70th birthday next month, but if I do this again, I might not make it ;>)
