Part 1: The bare lattice

On the left is how it looks now, on the right is how it used to look. You may think it’s not an improvement, but if you look closely, on the blown-up version of the left, you can see a new lattice there. When we moved in, the back yard had an awning, with lots of ferns and other low sun plants.
