March, 2008

For the past few months I have been slowly changing the look of my home. My original goal was to create a rustic look for my home filled with antiques from my family and with things that I had made myself.

Since that time, I’ve started going on monthly road trips with my sister-in-law hitting local antique stores. I have also grabbed some paint and made some changes here and there. The paint doesn’t quite fit the rustic antique look and so my “style” is a little mixture of “old” and “bright”.

For example, here’s a picture of a little area in my living room:

Hey, Debbie…we’ve got a room with that vibrant green color also. It’s our office/guest room, and we’ve actually been thinking about changing the color lately…guests say it’s a bit bright to sleep in there!

too bright??? Never :D
our green, when the light isn’t directly on it, turns to a very soft shade. It is amazing how the colour changes. For me, it’s very soothing when in low light – and invigorating when in direct light…

Thos.. that’s what my son says “yah, It’s green”. :)

Guess you can’t be afraid of color. My wife has a collection of colors lined up for our house, and none of them are white or pastels.

Your style works as the crisp fresh green contrast the rustic antique, this calms the green down and accentuate the antique, showcasing them as a collection.
