DIY Ideas #2: Creating a Vintage Interior Look

08-04-2015 11:26 AM by Katies_DIY_Blog | 124 comments »

I’m sure we can all have a good go at creating a modern interior with modern styles and trends. We can all buy a bunch of materials and tools and get to work on a brand new untouched space and finish with a masterpiece. However, what if you’re looking to create a more vintage look rather than a modern one? How can you create that antique look yourself? I did a bit of research online in an attempt to figure out for myself and for this blog just how can I create a vintage look for my interior o...

DIY Ideas #1: A few of my ideas of how to turn you bedroom from drab to fab

07-27-2015 10:36 AM by Katies_DIY_Blog | 89 comments »

If there’s one thing I hate it’s sleeping in a bedroom that’s full of clutter and clothes everywhere. I always try to clear up my bedroom as best I can but unfortunately my boyfriend doesn’t seem to share my sense of tidiness and it always ends up with clothes and what not spread about the room! When I do get a chance to clean and tidy the room though, there are a couple of ideas I have in mind on how to turn it from something that’s average into something beautiful. Of course there are...

DIY that adds Value to your Property #2: DIY in the Kitchen to add a touch of Value

04-24-2015 10:56 AM by Katies_DIY_Blog | 48 comments »

In the second part of this blog, instead of just thinking about the house as whole, I thought I’d focus more on just the kitchen in which adding a touch of DIY could increase the value of your home. Using a fair bit of my real estate experience, my slow but steady gaining of DIY experience/knowledge and an article I found online here at TheMoveChannel, I thought I’d write this short piece to carry on with the series! Now no one is expecting you to have a PHD in electronics here and create ...

Bathroom Remodel #6: Practicing for the shower doors

01-03-2015 08:03 PM by Dan Lyke | 42 comments »

So with the expanded window, we needed to obscure some of the glass. I thought “Oh, let’s go to Michael’s, get some stencils and etching acid, and put some patterns on it”. Charlene heard that and thought “Let’s put pictures of my favorite childhood camping spot on all the available glass”. Including the $700 shower doors. So now we’re practicing. A lot. Started with the Harbor Freight “air eraser”, which is ...

If there is anything that can be said about any bedroom is that it should be a sanctuary! A bedroom should be a place where one gets to unwind from the hassle and bustle of a busy day. Throughout your entire house, if there is one place that needs to be calm and ultimately most comfortable, it’s the bedroom. For this reason, people are always looking to find better ways of making their bedrooms as comfortable as possible. Decorating your bedroom with decent bedroom décor is one w...

Tips for Designing and Finding Inspiration

09-14-2013 05:56 PM by Todd A. Clippinger | 48 comments »

With the release of my latest article in WOOD magazine on design, it prompted more requests for a video on designing and how I find inspiration. In this video I share the lifestyle habits I have that allow me to keep finding inspiration, recording those ideas, and developing the designs. For an example, I share how I turned a Japanese torii gate into a stairwell barrier, bucking the standard design of newell posts, balusters, and handrail. While the subject of designing can get pretty d...

Reinforced Mounting Lid For The Dust Deputy

04-23-2013 08:30 PM by Todd A. Clippinger | 44 comments »

Since I did the Dust Deputy Review in Episode 27, I have been getting questions and have decided to answer them publicly with a video so everyone may benefit from the answers. In this video I show how I reinforced the 5 gallon bucket lid that I mount the Dust Deputy to. In Episode 28 I gave information to help the woodworkers decide which shop vacuum size might be the best to use with the Dust Deputy. Here are the last 2 videos: Episode 27: Dust Deputy Review Episode 28: Choosi...
